Jack Roy joined the board of Irish Sailing in 2013 and was President from 2017 to 2020. During this time he led with great talent and dedication, and always with a sense of fun and humour. The extent of his influence and popularity is shown in the tributes received by Irish Sailing from people around the world who worked with him during his presidency. Jack finished his presidency during COVID lockdown when face to face celebrations were restricted, so we marked the occasion by publishing his last speech and a slideshow of his time as Irish Sailing President. ► Our Australian correspondent Kevin Green got the opportunity for a test sail aboard the XF75, a luxurious powercat that is as high-performance as it is exclusive, with a superstructure that doubles as a helipad. This powercat, offered by New Zealand manufacturer Voodoo Yachts and unveiled at the recent Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, features a carefully optimized hull and foils that allow it to reach speeds of up to 50 knots. In addition to this impressive speed for a 75-foot vessel, the Voodoo boasts fuel consumption well below that of an 85- to 90-foot monohull superyacht offering the same features: the usable area measures some 3,000 square feet (279 m²)... By limiting its speed to 8 knots, the XF75 is capable of ocean passage-making.
