Tired of expensive, sometimes slow and restrictive cruise ship Wi-Fi? In this video, we dive into a much better solution - using an eSIM. Stay connected both at sea and on land without paying outrageous fees for cruise internet packages. In this video, we share our experience of using cellular data on a cruise and avoid the need to purchase an expensive cruise Wi-Fi package. We were able to have internet connectivity by using eSims on our cell phone. We found that, in addition to cruise WiFi, cruise lines also use either the Cellular at Sea or Telenor Maritime system onboard ships to provide internet connectivity for cell phones. Using an ESim app from a provider that supports these systems, we found that we could have a wi-fi connection but at a much lower cost than buying a cruise WiFi package. Not only that, but the eSim also provides country-based LAND packages that allow you to data roam at a really low price. We found two options: eSims from GigiSky, which supports the Cellular at Sea system, and Red Bull Mobile, which supports Telenor Maritime. They both have attractively priced land packages. In our opinion, these are the best alternatives to cruise Wi-Fi for providing an internet service. They are significantly cheaper than cruise ship WiFi packages, leave you in total control, and allow you to connect to land-based towers when you're at port. This is our quick review of our new go-to transit hotel at London's Heathrow Airport. We prefer to stay here whenever we are off on a cruise and have an early flight from Terminal 2 or 3. For aviation fanatics, you can upgrade to a room with great views of the runways. The Hilton Garden Inn is located in the central airport Terminal 2/3 hub and within walking distance of both terminals. This was a great find for us and is reasonably priced when booking directly with your Hilton Honors loyalty account or via one of the many online hotel booking sites. The Hotel has a fairly decent restaurant with a sensible menu. Prices are okay and are as you would expect to pay in central London.
