We sail from the Caribbean island of Saba in the Lesser Antilles in an effort to out run Hurricane Isaac. Our sails our set for Carriacou in Grenada being the first island outside of the hurricane belt.
However as with ALL sailing journeys, the wind rarely does what you want so with four days to go we hit the hyperdrive button and belt it south.
The fishing from the boat is the only thing keeping us going though as we catch three fish on our way! And one of them is the biggest and prettiest fish we've ever caught... watch to find out what fish it is! Khiara then shows us how to cook up the fish in style!

This week, we scout out a bargain on some cheap winches... that are on the other side of Europe.
To take advantage of the awesome price, Khiara managed to find cheap flights to Faro, Portugal and got to check out a salvage warehouse full of old boat parts from boats.
She really was like a kid in a candy shop!

We’re Adam and Khiara and we’re sailing around the world on our Tayana 42, the Millennial Falcon. Although we’re from Australia, we initially started our journey on the Millennial Falcon in January 2018 in USA and have been sailing and cruising through the Carribean ever since.
Our life has changed so dramatically from the rat race we were in while in Australia that we thought we’d share our adventures to those who might not know what it’s like to live on the cheap and travel on a sailboat. We’ll show you some adventure, sailing and hopefully blue skies and clear waters!
We upload a new episode at least once a week, so SUBSCRIBE and join us on our journey as we travel as far and as wide as we can!!

We finally put the tools down and spent the afternoon sailing to Grand Case for a bit of beach time. The first evening we treated ourselves to a huge (but cheap!) grill and the next day dove right in to our mini holiday... literally, as we went for a snorkel and then attempted an afternoon of two person paddle boarding... which sounded significantly easier than it actually was!!
We had a great time and every now and then it's good for us remember that boat work isn't the reason we're out here and that we can just have a fun few days in the sun!

We start the episode one day into crossing the Atlantic Ocean to Bermuda which turned out to be a great day of sailing! A couple of days later and the weather takes a turn for the worst as we experience sailing while being surrounded by lightening and then afterwards, dead calm.
Khiara gets a little hysterical while modeling our wet weather gear... a definite sign of too many days at sea! Then finally as we see the end in sight, our engine starts giving us trouble...

In this week’s episode we’re charging hard! We had a great run on our way south from Azores that we changed our final destination to 200 miles further to the Canary Islands. We encounter squalls, heavy weather and strong winds along the way but all the time doing a steady 5-7 knots.
When we finally put the hook in, in Lanzarote, we'd made record time and although a little sleep deprived, had a fantastic 5.87 days of sailing!

After leaving our boat for a week or so at Palm Cay marina and flying back to the states for Christmas celebrations, we returned and departed for Allen Cay!
Allen Cay is one of the northernmost Cays of the Exuma chain. Allen Cay, and some of the neighboring Cays, have a population of iguanas that, I believe, are not found anywhere else in the world. That said, they are very fun to watch and cruisers often bring apples, grapes and lettuce to feed them. They are protected by the Bahamian Government.
After Allen Cay, we moved down to Hawks Next Cay to anchor overnight. Unfortunately, we didn't really pay close enough attention to the weather and the wind forecasts and had a night of very poor sleep.
Over from Hawks Next Cay, we went over to Normans Cay for a great dinner at McDuffs then over to Shroud Cay after a couple of days to visit two of our favorite beaches and the very peaceful and tranquil mangroves.
We end to episode at Maverick Wells, the Crown Jewel of the Exumas.
Check out how we do our laundry and watch a mishap flying our Oxley Levante Parasail.

New beginnings are aways a struggle. Quitting a job, selling a house, packing up, selling or giving away all of our belongings is stressful. I hope this episode of Our New Chapter Begins captures this. This episode is true to this channel's mission of documenting what it takes to retire early and pursue a cruising lifestyle.
Phew, it's been an incredibly busy 12 months. This Episode is all about the last 6 months in San Jose and all of the struggles and work it took to sell our home and move out of San Jose. We've got a trip to Chicago and a hike in Muir Woods. The last two weekends in San Jose we say Willie Nelson, Bob Weir and Wolf Bros., Avett Brothers and Larkin Poe.
What an awesome start of our dream.
Thanks for watching! There is Life After 50

The Glass Window Bridge is Awesome. If you're ever in Eleuthera, it's a must see. Once on top, you can see the tranquility of turquoise blue waters of the Bight of Eleuthera and the dark blue, sometimes ominous Atlantic, separated by one narrow piece of land.
I've heard that people have died on the bridge, being swept over by huge waves from the Atlantic. Of course, when we visited, the swells were benign.
Down the street is the Queens Baths, another cool land formation on the Atlantic side. Again, don't go there is the waves and swells are elevated, I can imagine how this place could be very dangerous.
We needed to leave Mutton Fish Point anchorage and head south in anticipation of the wind clocking around to the south and west. We didn't stop at Hatchet Bay, since the day we were making our way south there were elevated winds out of the south west and the cut to Hatchet Bay is narrow. So, we just proceeded on to Governors Harbour where we would spend a few weeks.
There's lots to see and do at Governors Harbour like the Leon Levy Preserve, French Leave Beach and the Club Med resort ruins from the 1999 Hurricane Floyd. A lot to explore. On top of this, there's great provisioning and some very nice restaurants, not the least of which is the 1648 which is a fairly upscale restaurant overlooking the bay. We splurged there for dinner one night and it was awesome.
Thanks again for taking the time to watch and, as always, please Like and Subscribe to our channel.

In this episode, we follow up Episode 8 with our adventures in the Berry Islands. We will eventually move our Adventure from the Berry Islands to Chub Cay.
We were in the Berry Islands for the better part of a month and have really come to love the Islands. They seem to be less traveled than some of the other islands and while a bit rough around the edges, the people are very friendly.
We spent our time working and exploring the island. We ducked into Great Harbour Cay Marina for a weekend to avoid some strong weather coming through. The weather turned out to be less of an event than we had anxiety about but we were glad we stayed at the Marina. The manager is very helpful and welcoming and they go out of their way to embrace the community by scheduling get-togethers. We met several fellow cruisers there and keep in touch with most of them.
The trip down to Chub Cay was non-eventful. We left really early in the morning so we could get down there in time to start work. Leaving the tight channel cut at dark was a little scary.
Chub Cay was really pretty nice. Unfortunately, I'm not sure non-members are welcomed anymore due to their policy changes. I think once needs to buy or rent an Island Idol NFT in order to stay there....but it's all still very confusing to me. Flying in and out of Chub Cay was really easy.
After I returned to Chub Cay, Sherine and I departed and headed off to Spanish Wells where we would spend another month or so due to the proximity of an airport and a good marina.
Thank you for watching.
