[[SOLD as of 12/04/2024]] Ok, this is An INCREDIBLE Bluewater Sailboat AND this video is her debut listing! And while we don't typically review sailboats in this price range (a first at this level), we were contacted by the owner, Gary, who asked us to showcase her and announce her being for sale. We were honored and even more so when we saw this beautiful Cabo Rico 38. We had never been on one, though we heard they are nice. Guess what? They are WICKED nice and this one is off the charts. Gary bought her 3 years ago and has done a ton of work to her and made lots of upgrades (all of this is listed below). He found her in Marion, MA, sailed her up to Maine, did a ton of work, then sailed her to the Bahamas. Of note, this CR 38 has also sailed around the world. The proof of her seaworthiness is in the pudding, as they say. She has done it all and is now ready for more. Once you go through the list of what has been done, you'll see why. There is nothing left to do but replace the lifelines (as we note in the video) and go sailing - and not necessarily in that order.

Honestly, we loved this boat so much and we really hope we get a chance to go sailing on her.

She is located at Knight Marine, Rockland, ME, and her mast is being stepped in about a week or so (as of the premier of this video). This week's sailboat for sale is a sweet little boat designed by Robert G. Henry Jr. with this being one of the later models made out of fiberglass (most of them were earlier versions made out of wood).
This little sailboat for sale was a family weekend/coastal adventure sailboat and was sailed right up until last summer when the family bought a slightly bigger boat to suit their needs. She needs some cleanup and TLC but nothing that would deter CQ from taking the plunge using his "garage sale proceeds" as he put it.

Here at Shoreline Marina in Long Beach, CA we have a boat auction twice per year. In this video I bring you along with me to watch bidders buy boats for super cheap. Some of them didn't even get a bid and weren't sold at all. The opening bid for a sailboat is $400 and they still didn't sell.

These sailboats are run down and dirty. Most of them wouldn't be worth fixing up and doing the whole DIY sailboat refit but some of them are worth fixing up.

We’ve all heard about the pedigree of these classic Australian built vessels, the 10,000 build hours they took to hand craft, and the quality materials used. 'Free Spirit' is a testament to these truly great yachts. This is an impressive example.

The Buizen design is clearly centered around the Pilot House / Deck Saloon interior. Think all weather protection and a safe and welcoming saloon space that truly connects with your surroundings – very few options come close to offering the same. Her layout features the additional twin cabin opposite the galley which gives maximum accommodation and internal storage space. The master cabin is forward with private ensuite, the galley is more akin to a mini superyacht, there is a comfortable private double aft cabin, a second day head and shower plus the very practical pilot berth cabin. There is a 6.5KVA generator and air conditioning.

Standing rigging was replaced in 2019 and the vessel has been professionally and regularly maintained. Free Spirit features the larger rig and boom option which assists in lighter airs. There are two auto-pilot systems and all sailing is handled from the cockpit. The in-mast furling system is hydraulic. Notably there are six cockpit winches (two are powered) compared to the standard 4 winches found on most 48’s.

The fact that four Buizen 48’s raced at the most recent Hamilton Island Race week confirms not only will these great yachts be around for many years to come and will indeed outlive the vast majority of other yachts, but they are still excelling at what they do best – extended coastal and ocean cruising in great comfort. The TOP 10 SAILBOATS For Sale in CALIFORNIA! (Bay Area) Ok, it's been a minute since we've done a BoatFools Top 10 - and we have never explored what's available up in the Bay Area and, man, are we glad we did! There are some great sailboats up in the San Francisco area (not to mention the great sailing!) and there are some great deals. Today we got a special episode, I came across this amazingly well kept 46 foot exploration yacht. It is currently for sale in the Netherlands for the incredible sail away price of 130.000 USD. I don’t think you are going to find a boat with this kind of pedigree and level of maintenance anywhere else. Tooluka was built in 1975 in Australia out of Korten steel, Designed by the Halvorsen Brothers its an enlarged long keel Freya. The boat is completely setup to voyage to the most remote places our oceans have to offer. Used extensively for adventurous high latitude charters by Eef Willems, she has seen almost every corner of this world. Voyages to Antartica, Chile, Falkland island, Greenland, the NW Passage, Iceland, Norway, Svalbard, Cape Horn. You name it and this yacht has been there.
