While enjoying the most amazing island I have ever visited I still have some serious challenges with my sails. I might be stuck here for a while but it is definitely not the worst place to be stuck. Bali is a dream destination, but the sail loft here was not as expected.

I'm showing you some Balinese culture and even the contrasts on this exotic island. I am also sharing my first impression of Bali in an unfiltered and honest way.

ABOUT THIS CHANNEL:
I'm a sailor with a YouTube channel and not a YouTuber. Sailing around the world in a Bavaria 55 Cruiser mostly solo, making videos whenever we have time for it.
Comfortable at sea with 4 decades of sailing experience and hundreds of thousands of miles behind me.

Even though this is season 6 on YouTube I did not make that many videos in the beginning, and obviously not from my entire sailing life. Before full-time sailing 6 years ago, I sailed several seasons in the Mediterranean, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and have been sailing and racing ever since. Also, more than 10 years of experience as a captain in Search and Rescue at sea in Norway.

Sailing through the Torres Strait with no delays right on time for the outgoing current at the most challenging part. I'm sharing very simplified how I understood the new cyclone predicted in my path was not to be trusted. Join me on this amazing adventure as I leave Vanuatu and set sail for Indonesia on a 2500 nautical mile nonstop journey. Some say it is crazy some say it's impossible. I say it is doable with modern yacht and technology, knowledge, and a good strategy. In this series of 3 episodes, I am sharing my strategies and how I am executing this challenging sail. Several challenges in sailing such long distances during the South Pacific cyclone season, from Vanuatu to Indonesia. The obvious one is of course cyclones, but light winds and changing winds are just as big a challenge.

After not an easy one 7 day passage via Indian Ocean from Seychelles we are finally in Africa mainland - Tanzania, Tanga. To say the least - it's quite different here.
We drop the hook next to Tanga Yachtclub and after completing all immigration, customs and other arrival formalities we explore around and a bit later take off to Pemba - an island 40 NM east of Tanga, right above the Zanzibar.
And man - sailing in these waters is NOT for newbies!
Join us to see it yourself!

Sailing from the west towards the east in the Caribbean is always an interesting exercise, Especially after weeks of strong winds. The shallow waters of Bocas del Toro make it sometimes quite a challenge to leave as the waves can be pretty nasty. Again BE FREE is flying over the Caribbean waves on the last sail from Bocas to Shelter Bay marina in Colon. We are on a schedule as Gee has a flight to catch going back home to Europe.
Entering the breaker walls of Colon surfing 14 knots into the bay and entrance to the Shelter Bay Marina. This time it was also quite a challenge docking stern to with 27 knots of wind on our side.
This was hopefully the last sail in the Caribbean for now as the next step is through the Panama Canal and entering the next chapter - The Pacific

Episode 369 : Season 12 : Sailing Australia

Hello Friends,
On this episode we awake in the fog at Twilight Inlet surrounded by birdsong, once the morning sun cleared the way we headed out to explore more of Cowan Creek. After getting fuel and water at Cottage Point, we enjoyed a slow sail amidst the chaos of the weekend boat (and plane) traffic and spend the day bay hoping to see as much as we could.

Are you interested in lithium batteries for your boat? I just bought Li Time Amazon Lithium batteries and explain why and how as well as the amp hour needs of my sailboat. This week we discuss the lithium battery options like Battleborn batteries compared to AGM or lead acid deep cycle boat batteries and the cost of a house bank for the typical cruising sailboat.

Ahoy Friends,

This week we start the process of installing a Whale Gusher Foot Pump. The first step in this process was to determine where it made sense to install, on my 1965 Alberg 30 I decided to recess it under the stove enclosure in the starboard stowage area.

I have an electric water pump onboard that works perfectly fine but I wanted to install a foot pump to help regulate how much fresh water is used. Later on during the final galley rebuild I will install a salt water hand pump at the sink allowing for easy washing with salt water then a quick rinse with fresh water when needed.

On this episode we cut out the hole for the pump, design a simple shelf type bracket that the foot pump is mounted to then dry fit it under the stove to see how she fits.

Next week we go drill the holes for the hoses and run all new hoses forward to the water tank.

Thanks to our Patrons for your continued support! The new GoPro we purchased with your contributions has made filming so much easier and more reliable on the boat.

Thanks to everyone for watching and if you like this episode please give us a "LIKE" and leave us a comment with any questions or just to say hi.

Until Next Week,
Fair Winds,
