Sailing the Mediterranean in Winter: Our first Overnight Passage with No Autopilot

In this episode, we set off on our first passage of this new chapter, sailing together on Floh?s Hallberg Rassy 35. While the boat is familiar to him, it?s new to me, and this journey was all about learning to sail his boat together in slightly stronger conditions. Having sailed on my own boat before, I found myself comparing how I run my boat to how things work on his, adjusting to a different setup and decision-making process. This overnight passage in the Mediterranean in winter became even more of a challenge when the autopilot stopped working, leaving us hand steering the sailboat through shifting winds and rolling waves. Though exhausting, it was also a great way to get a real feel for the boat, understand how she handles, and start building a connection with her.
