SAILING THE ATLANTIC - PT3 - GEAR FAILURE and NO POWER

Things take a turn for the worse in this video. While sailing across the Atlantic Ocean the 'house' batteries fail, leading to the failure of the autopilot. Added to this the wind vane was still giving us problems. Gear failure and loss of power really put us to the test. Finding a workable solution to a problem is part of being a long distance sailor. It took days to get things to a point where we could sail easily again. This video has a lot of talking about what was going wrong. We sound and look pretty tired. Most of the time we try to give you the happy carefree fun side of our trip. This one shows you that it can be extremely frustrating and difficult at times.
