Quest for Hayling Island! Episode 3 "Mast Build Part 2"
In this new series of The Rogue Rigger I take you along on our campaign to go to the 5o5 World Championships in Hayling Island, England. The worlds start in July of 2026 so we have just a year and a half to go. Follow Mike and I on our journey to get to the world championships, from boat upgrades, practice days, regattas, debriefs and some shenanigans along the way. In this episode I finish building a brand new mast for our boat. This mast is a Selden Alto section built to the Rogue Rigging Spec. This spec was put together by myself, Howard Hamlin (505 Sailing Legend) and Mike Martin (Also a 505 Sailing Legend). As this mast is identical to our other mast we are trying a few new things. Couple of the big changes are getting rid of the 2:1 main halyard and going with a halyard lock. As well we are using a different spin halyard cleat setup. ***Just so you know!
