Port Blair to Langkawi- Our toughest sail |Part1 | S03 E28

Our journey back from Port Blair to Langkawi-a 650+ nautical mile passage-was nothing short of intense. As the last sailboat to leave the Andaman Islands before the South West monsoon set in, we were prepared for a challenging sail, but nature had its own plans. Day 1 started smoothly as we cleared out of India, but the weather quickly turned. We were hit by gusty WNW winds touching 25 knots and rolling 3-meter swells. With reefs in our mainsail and staysail, and some hearty Indian food to fuel us (yes, we had momos, roti, and paneer!), we pushed ahead. Kaeya had a magical moment spotting her first pod of dolphins alongside Reeva. Despite all our preparations, the sea threw everything it had at us-strong winds, relentless rolling, and tough sail trimming. The conditions pushed us physically and mentally. Eventually, we had to make a tough call and divert course toward Thailand, hoping for a break from the squalls. But that wasn't the end-Reeva's engine failed at night, adding yet another layer to what became one of our toughest sailing passages yet. This is Part 1 of our passage-a test of seamanship, endurance, and spirit. Stay tuned for Part 2 where things get even more real.
