Isle of Dogs Sea Cadets sail on the Thames Sailing Barge Blue Mermaid June 2025 Our intrepid team of Sea Cadets from the Isle of Dogs, London, embark on an epic trip into history, sailing the Thames Sailing Barge Blue Mermaid. We set sail for the Thames Estuary for a week-long adventure with no engine and all the traditional trappings of a bygone era of the Barge Trade. We are expertly guided by Richard Titchner MBE and Diggory the mate for the skills of sailing, passage planning, anchoring, and seeing exciting new places. We sail to Pin Mill for an amazing sandy beach and then to the secret water on the Naze to see the basking and sliding seals. All the while we are learning the skills of the Royal Yachting Association Competant Crew course, including a night sail with the clear starlit skies. A week to remember.
