Get To Know: Loïs Berrehar

We're excited to welcome @loisberrehar8319 Berrehar to Team Malizia as he joins the crew for the upcoming The Ocean Race Europe. At 31 years old, the French sailor brings strong offshore experience, a lifelong love for the ocean, and a long connection to the racing world. Loïs grew up near the bay of Quiberon in Brittany, spending much of his childhood on boats thanks to his father's passion for sailing. He remembers his first solo moments on an Optimist as a defining memory, followed by a transatlantic crossing with his family at just nine years old both moments that set him on the path to a career at sea. After several years in the highly competitive Figaro class, Loïs has built a reputation for his attention to boat set-up and speed. Now, he's eager to bring those skills to the IMOCA world. He describes Malizia - Seaexplorer as one of the most powerful boats he's ever sailed, perfectly built for the challenges of the Southern Ocean and well-suited to crewed racing. His story with Boris Herrmann began years ago in Brittany, where they first crossed paths as young offshore sailors. "It's wild to think we'll now be racing around the world together on the same boat," he says. Beyond competition, Loïs shares the team's passion for protecting the ocean. "We might not be able to change everything ourselves, but we can lead by example and show what's possible at sea." Welcome onboard, Loïs let's go racing.
