A Brief History of Sunseeker Yachts Founded in 1969 by brothers Robert and John Braithwaite as Poole Power Boats in Poole, Dorset, UK, Sunseeker International has grown into the world's leading luxury performance motor yacht brand. Renamed Sunseeker in 1985, the company revolutionized yacht design with its collaboration with legendary designer Don Shead, introducing race-derived deep-V hulls that became a hallmark of Sunseeker's performance pedigree. From the iconic Sovereign 17 in 1971 to the record-breaking XS2000, capable of exceeding 60 knots, Sunseeker has consistently pushed boundaries. The brand's yachts have starred in James Bond films like The World Is Not Enough and Quantum of Solace, cementing their status as symbols of glamour and power. Today, Sunseeker employs over 2,000 people, producing around 150 yachts annually, ranging from 38 to 161 feet, with models like the Manhattan, Predator, and Superyacht series. In 2024, ownership transitioned to Lionheart Capital and Orienta Capital Partners, signaling a new chapter for global expansion. Contact Andrew Troyer for more information on this boat!
