Full build, start to finish... adding a floating dock to my houseboat expanding my square footage... a floating backyard for my dog to do his business. In this video we use material that I have collected over the years along this riverway like a river rat. I've packed it away in different places. Picking up each piece and bringing it to the island uninhabited by anyone other than myself and my pets. We get to work, first cutting straight edges on the ten footers, then cutting the six footers to make the frame. All pressure treated all collected from the river. we have collected doc foam every time it floods. Over the last 3 or 4 years, we placed it in specific areas. In order to collect it for this project. Dock foam holds sixty pounds per square foot. Two years ago we mild one inch poplaur , into deck boards i'm using that material as decking. Over the course of 2 days I document the entire build, including an ingenious idea of building it vertically. That way. I won't have to ever flip the thing over during the construction process. The end of the episode finds us fishing off of the deck. Watching the sun go down on an additional 64 square feet of living space. Waterfront property completely free with no permits. No structural engineers nothing. Venmo Martin Haseman Email martinhaseman@gmail.com #music Candle Box, far behind matchbox 20, Today Today's sponsor is you guys. The viewers you're awesome.... River, Cricket and Martin This video documents the building of a floating deck attached to a houseboat. Using reclaimed materials from the river, the builder (along with his dog River!), constructs the deck in a unique way: building it vertically and then lowering it down. Here's a quick breakdown: Deck Building Process: 1. Material Collection: Reclaimed river wood and dock foam (collected during floods). 0:20 2. Frame Construction: Pressure treated wood, 10ft boards on one side and 6ft on the other, create the frame. 1:29 3. Decking: One-inch poplar wood planks are used for the deck surface. 1:04 4. Vertical Assembly: The deck is built upright, attached to a tree to prevent falling, while the foam is secured underneath. 2:26 5:44 5. Lowering: Once complete, the deck is carefully lowered to the water. Purpose & Benefits: Expanded Living Space: Provides an additional 64 square feet of usable space on the water. 0:12, 13:25 Dog Platform: Serves as a dedicated area for River to relieve himself, especially during flooding or when bugs/snakes are near shore. 6:24 Improved Access: Facilitates easier access to the water for fishing and other activities. 10:13, 12:58 Environmental Angle: Upcycling: Makes use of discarded materials to minimize environmental impact. #Reclaimed #Salvaged Enjoy!
