2001 Nordhavn 57 - Beyond Capricorn 1 -

'Beyond Capricorn 1', a Nordhavn 57, hull number #17, was built in 2001 to Australian Survey Standards for a knowledgeable Australian owner and delivered to Melbourne, Australia in 2002. If required, she could be returned to Australian Survey for charter work. She was completed with many custom features, and has two staterooms. Master with ensuite, and a guest cabin, which shares an ensuite with a two bunk cabin. Plus, there are crew quarters with two bunks and an ensuite. She is the WIDE BODY version and has expanded salon volume and flybridge entertaining area. She is one of 6 twin powered 57s built and has two Caterpillar 3126 TA. (mechanically injected) diesels of 420hp each. Twin 17.5kva Onan generators and a 24v 8" Bow Thruster (as opposed to 6" on most others). Excellent manoeuvrability is provided by the combination of the twin engines and bow thruster. She has an impressive cruising history, departing (on her own bottom) Australia in approximately 2003 for the Mediterranean, by way of Indonesia, Singapore, Goa, Oman, and the Suez Canal. The owner then took her into the Black Sea and entered the Danube at Constanta, Romania. The ship crossed central Europe, and exited the Danube at Antwerp. They then returned to the Mediterranean, via the UK and Gibraltar, where they spent several years cruising. The boat was subsequently sold to two (related) Turkish owners and was kept at Gocek, Southeastern Turkey.
