In 2011 Brad, Krista and Cole traveled for 3 weeks in New Zealand after spending 4 weeks in Australia. Then it was onto the Cook Islands for 2 weeks. This video is some of our Video from our New Zealand tour. The Weather was far less than perfect but we had a wonderful time despite it. We started on the South Island and then Ferried to the North Island. The roads were never straight and it was challenging at times with one lane bridges and narrow passages. After 5 weeks on the water (I thought we would be out for 5 days) and an inconceivable amount of work we finally splashed Triteia with only moments to spare before the boat yard shut down for Christmas Holiday! It was a VERY stressful moment for me when she was back floating again, hoping I had done everything correctly, many of the jobs, like installing thru-hulls and patching large holes, I had never done before so I was TERRIFIED to say the least. Turns out I did everything the right way and she was happily watertight. After we were floating and all the seacocks were checked and triple checked Camille made an offering to Poseidon with a bottom of Rum given to us by our friends Shane and Brook the day we were hauled out. Freak squalls are rare in Turkey so when one blows up on anchor its all about the response and damage limitation, especially when a 11 ton Oceanis is dragging between boats! There is a first time for everything and just sometimes the impact can be life changing. We have sailed Kejstral now for 6 years, and never once considered a Catamaran as our next step towards our ultimate goal of sailing round the world. That was until we were luckily enough to be invited to sail with Peter & Diane onboard Irradiance, a 40ft Fountaine Pajot Lucia.
