I was visiting my sailor friend and saw he was cleaning his water tank on his Bavaria, so I thought my tank also had to be dirty. On a Bavaria it is apparently quite easy to clean and inspect the tank.

Hurricane Irma damaged our Endeavour 32 sailboat. The storm blew our boat against the dock, breaking the standing rigging. The wind was so powerful that it healed the boat over nearly 45 degrees towards the dock - so much that the shrouds were touching the dock. The damage we sustained was a battered port side toe rail, a couple bent stanchions, and a damaged forward/port lower shroud. In this video I'll repair the toe rail, and I'll show you the damage to the standing rigging. Now, thanks to Irma, I have 2 more rather large projects to on our to-do list. 1) Repair the standing rigging. 2) Reseal the interior of our water tank. (More on that later) Never dull moment, that's for sure. The primary take-away from this video should be this... Yes, our beloved boat is damaged, but we're thankful to still have a boat to work on - damage and all. After all, bruises and scars add character right?? Thanks for watching!! After a few days of settling into St. Helena, we experience many firsts! We go on our first hike into the interior of the Island through Lemon Valley and learn about some interesting history of the island. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. With just 15 Nm to go to our destination in Panama we see a naval ship on the horizon changing course and heading straight towards us. We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. This week we duck out of the unrelenting wind on the Intracoastal Waterway and check the sailboat into not only one, but two marinas in St. Augustine. It wasn't all fun and games while here but it definitely leaned toward fun and relaxation. Since the wind speed and direction nor the boat wanted to cooperate for a Bahamas crossing this time around, we decided to cut our losses and enjoy our Florida cruise! There's more to the sailing world than just the water. First, we dug into the engine to alleviate our overheating issues, then explored a lot of beautiful old St. Augustine. In between building a "state-of-the art" IMOCA 60 to sail this year's Route Du Rhum and the next Vendee Globe Jeremie is sailing the Volvo Ocean Race with his mates on the mainly French crew of the Chinese entry Dongfeng. They are currently sailing between Melbourne and Hong Kong the home port of the Australian/Hong Kong entry Sun Hung Kai/Scallywar. Jeremie is a regular visitor to Australia as he sailed in the 2015 Rolex Sydney Hobart on the Volvo 70 then owned by Jim Delegat. The lost their mast in that race and Jim and the boat went on to win the 2016 race.
