In this episode we talk about the cost of building a shipping container house. But keep in mind, this costs can vary. It all depends on the materials you use and of course the experience of the builder. And remember that these are the costs we had so far as we still didn’t finish our tiny shipping container house. This is the twenty second episode towards our goal of building, by ourselves, a Tiny Shipping Container House and producing a Youtube Series about it called Living Tiny Project. If you like small living spaces and shipping container architecture this channel is for you. New episode every MONDAY!! Don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE and to click on the little bell to get notified when we upload new videos!! www.youtube.com/oddlifecrafting All the videos have subtitles in English and Portuguese. You just need to click on settings - subtitles - add subtitles! This is the history of a young couple that have been sharing dreams for over 10 years. After a sabbatical trip around Australia, Indonesia, Thailand and New Zealand they came up with the idea of building their own Tiny House, something they have been dreaming for years. After 3 days in Mustique, s/v Cloudy Bay (Hallberg-Rassy 54) moves on to St.Vincent, or "the mainland" of SVG (St.Vincent & the Grenadines). St.Vincent is still untouched by mass tourism, despite the dramatic scenery, both along the coast with black sand beaches, and the interior with lush mountains, verdant rain-forests, waterfalls and an active volcano. We had a road trip along both the east and west coasts, exploring the small villages and bays (Georgetown, Sandy bay Village, Owia Salt Pond, Barrouallie, Wallilabou, Cumberland, Chateaubelair, Mesopotamia Valley). Our highlight was the hike up the La Soufriere Trail. We were based in Blue Lagoon, reportedly the safest anchorage. St. Vincent & the Grenadines 18-25 Mar 2018
We remove our old head (toilet) and install a Natures Head Composting Toilet in Lady K, our Hughes 35 sailboat in preparation to sail south this summer.
| Season 2 | Episode 22 | On this episode I awoke at Pelican Bay after a perfect night on the hook and watch dolphins and a humpback whale pass by the anchorage as I prepare to leave. I made my way over to Little Scorpion and dropped the hook for the night, after which I went snorkeling and exploring the sea caves and rocks surrounding the anchorage. - The last week of 2017 I took an amazing solo sailing trip to the Channel Islands. I visit six anchorages on Santa Cruz Island before sailing for Catalina Island and tying up in Isthmus Cove for New Years Eve. We sailed back on New Years Day enjoying sunshine, great wind and thousands of dolphins. While I was on my trip I started my first podcast and the first episode is up online now. The podcast is titled “A STERN VIEW” and is something of a cruising guide to anchorages and sailing destinations. Each episode is recorded on location and I cover everything I know about the anchorage from my research and experience at the anchorage. I also kept a journal in my logbook and will be posting them as a blog with still photos. This will act as support to the A STERN VIEW podcast as will each new video episode that features the anchorage covered in the podcast episodes. The journal and Podcast can be seen and heard here: http://svtriteia.com My main go to guidebook for this trip was "Cruising Guide to Southern California's Offshore Islands: With Sailing Directions for the Santa Barbara Channel's Mainland Coast" by Brian Fagen which can be found here : http://amzn.to/2HOxAU1 If you like the podcast please subscribe to it on iTunes and rate / review it as it helps in the ratings! Please reach "A Stern View" in iTunes! I have started a new short video series titled Sea Stories that are only available for my Patrons. Encounters at sea, a mini-mahi and checking into Ecuador. A most relaxing-stressful sail. Especially when all the "pirates" wanted was some cookies. I wanted everyone to enjoy the first four days at sea and not muck it up with safety at sea discussions. That said, I really did think it was the perfect cliffhanger ending :) If you want to read our thoughts on safety at sea I URGE YOU TO CLICK OVER TO OUR WEBSITE: https://gonewiththewynns.com/approached-at-sea This vid picks up where we left off and gets us across the equator and into the crazy entrance to Bahia de Caraquez in Ecuador. The last leg of our sail was both relaxing and extremely stressful...a perfect representation of real-world sailing. Love from all of us here aboard s/v Curiosity, - Jason, Nikki, Cleo and Singa (Kate too!) Enjoy our vids? Want to give us a virtual high-five? Treat us to an espresso? Or pitch in on a tank of fuel? Just a little taste of what its like on sv basik. Linh makes a delicious dinner inspired by leftovers.
Easy cruising from Syros to the famous island Mykonos where we anchor all alone again in Ormos Kolpos just south of Mykonos town. Good protection for the strong south winds and an interesting dinghy ride to the harbour. After Mykonos we head for Naxos, passing the ancient town of Delos.
I used to be terrified to the point of paralysis when it came to stepping outside my comfort zone to do something new and meaningful. The fear is still there, but one thing this journey has taught me is, once you step in, outside the comfort zone is really not so scary. In fact, most of the time it's freaking awesome! I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Let me know in the comments, or share your own story of stepping outside your comfort zone. The core of "Family Circus" is Chris (Dad / Captain), Sayo (Mom / Admiral), Aya (First Officer / Deckhand) and Miya (Baby / Stainless Polisher). After many years in business in Vancouver we were tired of life inside the box and wanted to make a change, we just weren't exactly sure what would be next. In July of 2016, when Sayo was six months pregnant, we decided (somewhat at the last minute) to fly to New Caledonia for one last holiday before the baby was born. On this trip we decided to buy "Family Circus", planned to sail her to New Zealand and started an adventure that changed our lives. SUBSCRIBE TO OUR CHANNEL https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCe-5... I forgot it was Easter Monday..... In New Zealand, they take a holiday seriously and NOTHING was open. The boatyard was not even open and almost no one was working on their boat. Without safety equipment and supplies sanding the hull was not going to happen. So I decided to embrace the holiday and have a fun day with the kids! While working our landscaping job, loud noises scared a baby bunny rabbit so bad, it ran into a swimming pool. I knew if I did not rescue the bunny quickly, it would drown. I ran to get a bucket and scooped the disoriented bunny out of the chilly water.
