Episode 1 of Asher & Dani's voyage from the UK back to New Zealand aboard Bacchus, their 36 foot sailing yacht. This first month was the UK Shakedown Cruise from Brighton to Falmouth, testing things and breaking things (not each other) before leaving the UK for France and beyond.

We swim, snorkel, sail, and paddle board at Alabaster Bay! Alabaster Bay in Eleuthera is one of our very favorite anchorages. The water is incredibly clear, the beach is simply beautiful, and the anchorage itself it nicely sheltered from the prevailing easterly winds. There's not much else in this area. No restaurants, no marina, no grocery store - but the reason Alabaster Bay is so wonderful is because it lacks those amenities. Part of the beauty of this place is that there are usually very few other people here, and it's those cruiser conveniences that tend to attract the crowd. No crowd here. MUSIC by Rene Sullivan Here's our interview with Wak Kamsol Warjan. He bought this Toyota Hiace Turbo Diesel 3.0 Campervan and drove it to UK back in 2016. It was a vehicle Rene and I wanted to buy off him but the price was Rm85K and way out of our budget - from there we proceeded with our Vanhalen instead until we found Grizzly for Rm17,000. In the end, Wak Kamsol Warjan found a Merc Sprinter and he converted that into a campervan. He went through the entire process of design to changing his grant with JPJ from Van to Caravan. This video will be out after the Jacinda and Martin one. There is a section for 4 seconds where my audio is missing, there is a glitch causing this and we are troubleshooting why this happened - we decided to release the video as per because it would take at least another day to re-edit, render and upload. Since it is at an area where the words said do not take from the story and info - we are moving onto the next video edit which is MJ Road Trippin - Jacinda and Martin the Singaporean couple driving to Portugal. Sadly, Wak didn't snap any photos of his entire journey from Malaysia to UK so we couldn't include much B roll in the edit. Nonetheless, we tried our best to korek as much info as he was willing to provide. Weltumsegelung | Blauwasser | Langfahrt. Fast einen ganzen Monat haben wir in Kroatien verbracht, haben das Boot fit gemacht, ein Skippertraining mit den Bootsprofis absolviert und unsere Manöver geübt. Viel Zeit oder Energie zu filmen hatten wir dabei leider nicht. Die ersten Wochen waren so richtig anstrengend! Jeden Tag neue blaue Flecken, jedes Hafenmanöver ein kleiner Herzinfarkt. Aber wir gewannen erstaunlich schnell genug Sicherheit, um den nächsten Schritt zu wagen: Es war Zeit, das “Von-Bucht-zu-Bucht-Gehopse” hinter uns zu lassen und zu unser ersten längeren Überfahrt Richtung Griechenland aufzubrechen. 180 Seemeilen galt es zwischen Cavatat (Kroatien) und Korfu (Griechenland) zu bezwingen. Und das ohne funktionierenden Autopilot! Immer wieder begleiteten uns Delfine und verzauberten uns für ein paar Minuten. Auch die Nacht selbst verlief ruhig und wir konnten den schönsten Sternenhimmel beobachten. Und dann waren wir da: auf dem eigenen Kiel in einem neuen Land angekommen, das uns sofort mit unbeschreiblicher Gastfreundschaft in Empfang nahm. Timor Leste, also known as East Timor, is a hidden jewel in Southeast Asia. Lying in Coral Triangle with 300km of fringing reefs, is an unexplored and unknown diving destination with a rich and diverse marine life. Easy access from the shore or from a boat to pristine coral gardens, is aldo a hotspot for whales and dolphins from October to December. Terceira Island AZORES Portugal - Ep. 20 In this week of Sailing Zephyr we leave the Horta Marina in Faial and sail to the nearby island of Terceira. One of our most magical sails due to James and I spotting some Sperm Whales in the early morning shift change. We arrive in Terceira and find a beautiful little anchorage just off the main beach in the city of Angra do Heroismo. This island is known for its festivities and food - The Party Island of the Azores. Exploring the treasures of Menorca by sailboat, from Ciutadella to Mahón. #46 This week, we go treasure hunt! We start by exploring Ciutadella, the historic capital of Mahón, where I get some well appreciated girls time with Emily, our friend on Sea Odyssey. The guys had been staying in our anchorage at Cala Galdana to work on some small issues, but eventually joined us to go try some specialties of the island at the local restaurant. We indulge in fish and a desert that almost literally “blows our minds”. When time comes to leave the Southern coast of Menorca, we head towards Mahón, one of the largest natural harbor in the world together with Pearl Harbor. The only authorized anchorage in the bay is at its very entrance, and is called “Cala Teulera”. There, we find a fascinating fort that built in the 18th century, but completed by the multiple nations that had control over the island over the 19th and 20th century. Eventually, we decide to get Polar Seal all the way to Mahón, 3,5 nautical miles down the bay. A very sad day for all of us in the rally as one of our Captains, Tim Brewer of 'Q4' passes away very suddenly during our Valentine's Day celebrations in the San Blas Islands of Panama. I hope we can all learn something from this day in how to be better prepared for when the worst happens... even simple things like knowing how to properly operate a VHF radio for use in emergencies, knowing where first aid kit is and how to use it, initiating first aid and/or CPR, and being able to relay an accurate GPS position can all make the difference between life and death when every moment counts. Living aboard a sailing catamaran in the Bahamas is probably one of the best places in the world to fish, spearfish, kiteboard, and enjoy pretty much any water activity you could imagine! Just a few hundred yards off the coast of Crooked Island the water depth drops to thousands of feet deep so we throw some lines out as we sail our catamaran South to Long Cay where we try our luck at spearfishing close by to the boat, meet up with some friends, and do a little kiteboarding in the bight! WOW, WOW, WOW - OUR BIGGEST WELCOME EVER !!!! DEBUT - K A I I S L A N D S Catamaran IMPI has been sailing around the world - some 8 years full time now and in all this time we have never received as great a welcome into any country as right here in the KAI Islands of Indonesia … a place known as DEBUT. Some sailors told us not to expect much in Debut, however our experience has been one of PURE DELIGHT and absolute awe. The effort these people have shown in making us feel welcome is exceptional and also very humbling when one considers the poverty in Indonesia being the situation for many - it feels to me the folks would literally take the last shirt off their backs and give it to anyone in need. The Regent who is the elected ruler of the regency or ‘district’ (for want of a better word) is truly an amazing man with great leadership skills. In our short time with him it became evident that the man truly wants to deliver for his people, that he truly values visitors to his region. To this end it is clear he could not have received as much monetary return from us sailors as what it cost the region to entertain and dine us - an investment which undoubtedly is going to benefit his people in the long run because so many will want to experience the joy and delight of being welcomed into Indonesia this way. This video will show some glimpse of the generosity bestowed on the sailors entering here with the ‘Multihull wonderful sail to Indonesia Rally’ supported this year by ‘The Down Under Rally’ (Go North Rally). Being the ‘lone range sailors’ we always have been, we are not sailors who would usually make use of a Rally Group to tour countries, however, those who have followed our adventures will know the ‘Down Under Rally’ have been amazing in cost saving deals for yachts sailing into Australia and also became sponsors of our animal welfare program in New Caledonia. Because John Hembrow, who is the founder and director of Down Under Rally had formed an alliance with “Multihull, Wonderful sail to Indonesia’, we felt it would be a good opportunity to use the rally as a means to enter Indonesia which can be quite complex in terms of paperwork, visas, sponsor letters and so on. We are really pleased we took part in the ‘Welcome ceremony’ at Debut - we fell on love with the people right away - they are a happy, generous and engaging people who show delight in their visitors and enjoy a good laugh or two. In this video I have tried to capture some of the vibe, some of the local folks culture and hope I can give Debut, it’s people and it’s leaders some credit for their amazing friendship. People here warmed up to us right away - in some regards we felt like we were right back at home in South Africa - we took part in dancing (a little on the wild side) and not being a great dancer the locals laughed and enjoyed the misplaced foot movements and wiggle of the hips - they even called for IMPI over the loudspeakers for an ‘on the spot interview’ - lol ! Ana and I feel so blessed and totally excited to be part of such a wonderful bunch of sailors on this years rally - truly - all of them such nice people so it was sad when we kept to our dream and sailed away from the team who all headed south - we headed north for Raja Ampat instead and are currently enjoying this region. I will share some of our footage of Balbulol on Misool, diving in beautiful places and beautiful little islands like Wofoh where the locals tell me is some of the best diving in all of Indonesia (and it is amazing) - and of course our ‘WOW’ visit to WAYAG which to date is the most intriguing and most beautiful place I have ever anchored in. Lets upgrade to a bigger Catamaran. Buy it new from factory and have it customized to our needs after experiencing what works and what doesn’t for us. It is with mixed feeling we move forward with the plan to upgrade. Could not refuse the offer which was very good in nature and allow once to GO BIGGER and have a newer version Catamaran. We are very happy as we believe we will continue to make everlasting memories as we proceed in building a new boat from Lagoon.
