Hurricane season is approaching and it is time we really start working South so we set sail for Great Inagua, the very last Bahamas Island. We stopped at the very Southern tip of Acklins Island for the night and on our way there we got a few fish on under sail, one of them being a Skipjack Tuna!! Living on a sailboat is absolutely amazing and we are so lucky we can provide some meals for ourselves just by having a few lines out while we are sailing! We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love Carla and Simon

The forecast heavy airs for Tuesday turned up with a bang, maxing out at 37 knots by late morning. Confidence and some patience from the race committee, who postponed the start for several hours until the first hints of any abatement showed up, eventually saw the fleets away by lunchtime for some exciting racing in slowly easing conditions. The Bow Caddy team enjoyed a wild ride too, chasing the IRC fleet across Whitsunday Passage in 2 metre seas.

Easing their way into Race Week, the fleet enjoyed an island course for a second day of light airs under sunny skies. While Pentecost Island was something of a parking lot for many of the cruising divisions, by late lunchtime the breeze had built enough to get everyone home for a finish in Dent Passage in some tricky current.

After our overnight sail from Great Keppel Island to Marble Island we rowed ashore to the bay next to the airstrip and headed up to the island managers homestead. Long time friends of Don's, Craig and Sally, have been the onsite managers on Marble Island for the past 5 years and we were thrilled to catch up with them after not seeing them for nearly 10 years! Marble Island is a privately owned island and part of the Duke group of Islands 20km off the Capricornia Coast and is approximately 110km south of Mackay and 100km north of Rockhampton. We relished the chance to go ashore and have a hot shower and a BBQ of venison, along with many of the fresh fruit and vegetables available from the converted tennis court garden. We were surprised to see how diverse the island was with many pristine, sandy beaches, rolling hills and valleys, a wide variety of trees and plants. We were also surprised to learn that there were no other animals on the island apart from the cattle and deer that were introduced there. In this video we go on a tour traversing the rocky tracks in search of the deer and explore some of the unique beaches. We also grab some refreshments and drive up to the "top pub" to watch the sunset. I learn about how and why deer shed their antler and the difference between antler and horns. Links below for more info along with a link to the Marble Island web site where you can find more information if you may be interested in staying here. You will need to copy and paste the links into your browser for them to work. Have you ever wondered what happens in a day of the life of one of our Master Reef Guides? Well, wonder no more! Meet our passionate Marine Biologist, Samantha! Samantha is a Marine Biologist with the Quicksilver Group, a position she has held for over five years. Samantha combines her lifelong passion for the marine environment with her desire to educate people to deliver memorable experiences for thousands of visitors to the Great Barrier Reef each year. Samantha has diverse experience across a range of marine tourism products including a remote tropical island resort, whale watching tours and as a Dive Master. Samantha’s favourite thing about the Great Barrier Reef is that it reveals none of its secrets from the surface but once you get into the water and put your face below the surface, the most beautiful colours, shapes and textures appear. “I’m so proud to be a part of this amazing group of people! I’ve never seen so much passion, enthusiasm and knowledge about the Great Barrier Reef in one place!"

It's time for a new video, and this week we sail the remainder of the Irish Sea up to Scotland. Our weather on the Irish Sea goes back and forth from blissfully calm to getting tossed around by building waves...but at the end of two days we drop anchor with some absolutely breathtaking scenery in the Scottish Highlands. We can't get too comfortable though. The next morning it's time for us to begin the remaining miles to Ft. William and the beginning of the Caledonian Canal. Once we can get that kelp pull off our anchor... Much love from Scotland! Jessica, Matt & Georgie Thank you SO MUCH to our Patrons. On this episode, WE sail up to the Bahamas after saying goodbye to our friends in Turks and Caicos and receive a fantastic send off from a playful pod of dolphins. WE start off sailing the incredible waters of the lower Bahamas towards the Exuma chain. We spend a day free diving Deans Blue Hole on Long Island after a coupe of full days of sailing. Also we experience some difficulties with furling and unfurling our jenniker sail, which results in some tears and argument between each other. However, that's the reality of sailing and inevitable with a couple on board. There is not shortage of amazement as we sail the shallow stunning blue waters of the Bahamas. And when we say shallow, I mean scrape the bottom shallow as we take a shortcut between two small islands. We explore the underwater installments of The Mermaid and the Piano at the private island of David Copperfield and begin to fall in love with the the Bahamas. Thanks for watching the Adventures of WE! As our friends take the ferry from Stromboli to Sicily again we sail the 370 miles to a bay just south of Olbia on Sardinia. Plenty of people there showing their expensive toys in a never ending competition of big, bigger, biggest. We make new friends in Palau.

Thanks for watching and welcome to our Blown Away channel! Eileen and I live a three-minute walk from Shilaoren Bathing Beach which is one of the most popular beaches in Qingdao, China. Upon returning for our new school year, we visited our beach which was extremely crowded and here's a video sharing that with you. On the most part, the Chinese in Qingdao don't sit and chairs or lay on beach towels and read by the ocean like most Westerners. Instead, they stand by the ocean waves and sit either on the sand or in tents they set up to help protect them from the sun which too much is shunned in China. We have done a fast time-warp video of our beach during this busiest time so that you can experience it for yourself and then at the end provide the pleasant unexpected surprise of a classic jazz band warming up on the beachfront for a small concert. Enjoy and please comment with questions and observations! Thanks for watching! #china #chinalifestyle #chinalife #qingdao NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Hopefully, you will be as BLOWN AWAY from watching, as we are in experiencing and producing our adventures! HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US? If you wish to support our video efforts, all we ask is that you SUBSCRIBE, give a THUMBS UP, SHARE our videos with your friends, AND COMMENT! WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET TO KNOW US MORE DEEPLY? It would be an honor and pleasure to deepen our relationship with you as a Patron. We will embark for this first New Campaign on a trip to switch everything off to reconnect to the heart of the Planet. In our contemporary society, the connection to the planet seems to be more at risk. With the Campaign “Join the movement and reconnect to earth”, North Sails invites us to switch everything off to rebelliously reclaim a new sense of responsibility in protecting the planet. Indeed, cities are mostly responsible for climate change, consuming 78% of the world’s energy and producing 60% of overall CO2 emissions. Over 70% of the Autumn Winter 2019 collection’s jackets and vest are made using recycled materials. They are defined by an urban style and a vivacious, 90’s inspired colour palette interpreting North Sail’s iconic lifestyle philosophy and commitment to sustainability. Perfect for between seasons, for indoor to outdoor activities and for breezy summer evenings. But for now, join the movement and reconnect to earth! #reconnect2earth Find inspiration with the rest of our collection: https://n.orthsails.com/2ygRt30 Follow us on: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NorthSailsCollection/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/northsails_

www.sailingsatori.life What a crazy year it's been! Since we left St. Petersburg a year earlier, we’ve had sails tear, battens fall out, refrigeration failures, and fire onboard. We survived one of the most powerful hurricanes ever recorded and also survived our first ever week at Fantasy Fest. After what seemed like a never-ending stretch of boat problems in Marathon, while battling the flu, we finally crossed the gulf stream and made our first international passage. What once seemed like an impossible task of uniting from our home dock now seemed like an unstoppable momentum as we breezed through the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos. We fell in love with Luperon and the DR on the way down but felt like we had room for more. It was a beat past Puerto Rico to the Virgin Islands as we battled against the trade winds, but well worth the effort. After a well deserved downwind sail, we returned to Luperon. Time to settle down for a while? Not exactly! Want to know more about this trip? Read Our Blog: https://sailingsatori.life/broken-mooring-luperon/

Wow, Youtube just released a new process flow in their video publishing workflow. It now contains a status of Draft and keeps it right at the top of your workflow assuming what is in the draft is being currently worked on. Well, that may be true, but in my case, it identified 2 of my videos that were just in the draft and never published. It was kind of a cool experience when I logged on to upload Friday's video and this was sitting there in my "queue". Here is a video I did about 4 years ago. Actually, I just looked, it was January of 2015. So yeah, this is old. A few comments. First off, wow I was much bigger back then. Damn. Second, Why I decided to film something at night in a dark boat, I don't know, but the overall approach and information is still valuable. (sorry about that, I got better at this whole video thing since then) I can't even bring myself to publish this as one of our regular Friday shows, so am going to pick a Thursday in the next month or so to have this post as a bonus episode. Thanks to those of you that have stuck around since the beginning and for allowing me to grow in my hobby of filming what we do. Very easy to can some fresh sea fish for later eating! You know exactly what you put in your jar and it taste so much better than fish cans. Easy process but make sure you follow well full instructions in canning books or 'how to' websites as you do not want food poisoning for improperly prepared fish cans! Filmed in Thailand in 2018.
