Karl needs a new autopilot, so I decided to fly up to California to pick up my new pelagic autopilot in person because it was about the same price as shipping it and most likely easier than dealing with customs. During my stay, I stayed with my friend Manny because he needed a nanny for his kids. On his days off, we went exploring the beautiful state California a bit. Some great fun in the snow! Enjoy & Ahoy, Nike Download the full movie at www.UntieTheLines.com You can support our videos here: www.patreon.com/WhiteSpotPirates or https://www.paypal.me/whitespotpirates For real-time updates, visit: http://www.facebook.com/whitespotpirates http://www.instagram.com/whitespotpirates For background information on the journey visit www.WhiteSpotPirates.com Thanks for watching, liking, sharing and supporting these videos! Every little bit helps! --- This is NOT a live documentary! There is a time difference between filming and publishing due to the time it takes to send data home, to edit the episodes and to internet not always being awailable on those little remote palm tree islands :)
Want to see how a modern city looks after being buried in a pyroclastic flow? After randomly drawing our Patreon crew contest winners Martin and Crystal, Delos sets sail leaving Antigua in our wake. After a few hours of fantastic downwind sailing we anchor ourselves in the protection of the island and begin our exploration. It turns out the entire south portion of the island is an off-limits exclusion zone to protect the population from the very active volcano. We get a permit from the government to enter the exclusion zone, and along with our local guide Joe enter the abandoned villages and towns that used to be homes to thousands of people. What we find is absolutely amazing and creeps at the same time. It's literally a modern ghost town buried in volcanic ash, rocks, and mud. We fly the drone and get as close as possible to capture the experience from both the air and ground. We leave the charming town of Galaxidi, Greece on our way south and east, headed for the Aegean Sea. Along the way we get treated to the most amazing dolphin show we've ever seen, either in-person or on video. Next comes the Corinth Canal, which turns out to be a second treat. Such a narrow passage under blue skies and equally blue water. Things get finished off in the port town of Aegia, where we meet up with some real YouTube stars (not pikers like us).

For the first time in over a year we spend time at the beach :) We celebrate 4th of July and have 9000 boats as neighbours! We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat Ran, a custom built Beason 40 in aluminium and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter in January 2016. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds take us. In this episode Oskar shows a little about our HF-radio and how we download weather forecasts. While we were swimming in the middle of the ocean a oceanic whitetip shark came and said hello. We reached Tuvalu but we did not stay very long… We really wanted to explore the beautiful atolls and islands, but we explain why we couldn’t in the episode. The famous Mentawai island waves deliver and the boys get some SICK ONES! https://www.sailingnandji.com/ In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we sail north to the Mentawai playgrounds area and score some of the best waves going around! We leave the wave of Telescopes and down wind sail the 20nm in the strong SE trade winds. We have a little excitement on the ride as there is some swell in the water and BIG bill fish around!!! We arrive to the protection of the little tropical island of Hideaways and discover a smoking left hander to surf out the front. We anchor on the shoulder and call this piece of paradise home for a few days. The surf got a little busy in the mornings with sometimes 40 people in the water, but as we sat there patiently, let the tide drain out and the boats to disappear, the lads get an all time surf session with just the two of them out. Yew! With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra where we are living the island life and chasing the surf before our big crossing! We departed Australia in July 2017 and have since explored some amazing countries, met some beautiful people and experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World! When John Ordovas contacted me with some drawings of a 64' Trimaran I was intrigued. When he told me that he had assembled a small group of workers, found a production facility in Alicante, and started to BUILD the yacht my intrigue turned to an overwhelming curiosity. This is a really unique opportunity to follow the construction of a challenging yacht and also to see the development of a new brand in the yachting industry. The Hanstaiger brand! www.hanstaiger.com

Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V770 with a Rode External mic. My old camera is now my number 2 is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. I leave Margarida early morning and head out for a spear. The trouble is, the sun is not high and it is a bit overcast so I can't see into the water and see the reefs. I stumble upon a reef when a set comes in and my motor dies right at the worst possible time and I get swamped by a breaking wave and almost have the boat turn turtle. Its all good though and I manage to get dinner for a BBQ. I see some amazing coral formations that look like Disneyland for smurfs. Just watch it and you will understand. Later on we meet some Brazilian guys who challenge us to a game of volleyball and we trounce them 3 games to 0. Give it thumbs a up if you liked this episode! We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love Carla and Simon

The weather was still chilly at Great Keppel Island so we only stayed a day before setting off further north in pursuit of sunshine and warmer weather. Due to the military exclusion zone in place right where we planned on spending quite a bit of time, Shoalwater Bay, Island Head Creek, Pearl Bay and Port Clinton, we had to sail for around 14 to 16 hours without a stop. We decided it was best to do this at night and it was a great opportunity for us to complete our first overnight sail. The winds were perfect and we were going between high 7's and 8 knots consistently with top speeds in low 9 knots. We were in fact making such good ground that at around 9pm we decided to slow the boat down, as we were going to arrive at Marble Island too early! The night was pitch black without even the moon to shine on us but there were plenty of stars around to light the way. More information can be found on the web site links below about "Notice to Mariners" and Military Exclusion Zones in this area. The live ammunition training is carried out over winter to reduce the damage to nesting birds and perhaps turtles. https://publications.qld.gov.au/dataset/capricorn-coast-outside-pilotage-areas-notices-to-mariners
In this episode I work on maintaining the lead keel, prep the surface, apply epoxy and various primers. I also work on getting the concrete-hard barnacles off the propellor! But the heat index of 104 degrees Farenheit the heat starts to get to me....surprise at end of episode! Hold your breath and freedive to the bottom of a Bahamian blue hole. Come with me as I take you on a journey of sight and sound - free your mind and expand your blah, blah, blah... For a while now, I've wanted to create simple music videos for each one of us. Eventually, each one of us will have one of these simple, artistic videos made from the collective footage of our sailboat travels. This one is Ben's video, and it's called "Blue Hole Bottom". It's just for fun. I hope you enjoy it. :) TUNAGE: "By And By" - Henrik Nagy

In this episode I get all of the V berth lining panels made up, not without a lot of fiddly back and forth fitting to get them right, also the cabin-sole and get them all sanded and epoxy painted! Yes! There were many reasons why, but the work stopped,... However, the work has re-started, thankfully, and I am on an exciting journey to finish Mistress and then go on my sailing adventures,... When a story starts this way, it's gonna be a pretty good one. I'm Back on Galopin and sort my things for life aboard again. My Swiss friends Jean tries to get out to sea, will he? Then we go to one of the best Block Parties ever. And the Canadians Dave and Pete are with me. The party is organised by none other than Peixe. He is the Dude! And he throws one hell of a party. Then we visit RApgodz for a lesson in true urban Rap. Later we hit the road looking for beaches and fun. Yes, with the Canadians. This is a fun on the run episode in Mindelo. The trip takes a little longer than expected due to light winds but eventually things pick up and cruising past diamond head provides some great sailing. I discuss some of my thoughts and strategies on self-steering gear and pick up a slip in Ala Wai harbor.
