After crossing the Wide Bay bar and narrowly missing a whale, we are surprised to find a fish on the end of our driftwood contraption. We are on our way south, retracing steps. What a build. These few days really kicked my butt. Ive built some difficult things in my life. This build is in the top 10. There were times that I wanted to throw this thing through the door, smash it with a hammer and just go home. Take a tour of a stunning and very different boat. A Nonsuch 30 is a cat boat, quite out of the ordinary considering your usual sloop. She has a single huge sail, a bit like a giant Windsurf. The single large slab sail together with wishbone boom and completely unstayed mast makes her rather unique. NONSUCH are based in Canada made a series of beautiful Cat Boats in 80s and 90s and 'No Rival' is a very fine example. I was lucky enough to spend a sunny August afternoon sailing on her with her owners. Huge thanks to Mike for the detailed overview of the boat and for Maz for the fantastic below decks tour. Soprano Joanna Forest and renowned 'doodle a day' artist Gary Andrews have collaborated to create a beautiful video to compliment the No1 award winning classical singers version of Hushabye Mountain, from her album 'The Rhythm of Life' In the ethereal video, viewers are taken on a journey which offers light at the end of a tunnel, reflecting on the difficult year gone by, with sketches of a family taking off their masks and at last reunited brought to life by Gary Andrews. Joanna and Gary are urging viewers to send the video to friends and family as a 'virtual hug' to offer comfort and joy at the end of a year that has tested many in ways never experienced before. Speaking of the collaboration, Joanna Forest said: 'In a year that has seen challenges like no other, music has been so healing for people. I really wanted to mark the end of this strange time and to offer some comfort through the power of song. As a huge fan of Gary's work I knew he would be able to take my ideas from my brain to the screen. What he has created is simply beautiful.’ Gary Andrews, who has gained a huge following for his frank and moving account of grief through his daily sketches of family life and his book 'Finding Joy' said ' I was so delighted to work on this with Joanna. Hushabye Mountain is such a moving song and if ever we needed a collective virtual hug, now is the time.' With lyrics such as ‘Close your eyes on Hushabye Mountain, Wave goodbye to the cares of the day’ Joanna hopes the nostalgic song, known from the much loved Christmas classic Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, will give people a moment to reflect. Boris shows us the routing all the way to Cape Horn

A high pressure to the North-east of Boris is currently dominating the weather situation for Boris and the leaders of the fleet. Although it brings quite nice calm conditions in the lead-up to Christmas it will prove challenging as it blicks the route east with light winds. Boris may be forced to sail a more northerly route to stay in good wind.

In this episode we go for a Sunday sail have a BBQ on the boat and then run aground on the way back in.
