In this episode we sail the same route as we did in April but in the opposite direction from Ystad to Stickenhörn Marina close to Kiel. The winds are shifting and the captain fell out of his bunk when Gitte decided to host the sails when we caught the morning breeze.

The Hydrovane rudder took a great deal of force when banging on the reef and that force has had to go somewhere. Bent bolts, cracked pads and a wet transom resulted in the windvane only just hanging on. With now water in the wood of the transom, I need to remove all moisture and reinforce this entire area so the windvane has a solid foundation once again. It's just more problems from that damn reef in Thailand! Another day in the boat yard! With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed and our home ended up on the reef. We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! Ready to sail across the Indian Ocean, we were only days away from leaving when the pandemic begun closing countries around us... We are stuck for now, but enjoying the slower pace! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! This is the final episode of our sailing trip through the Pacific Northwest, specifically the San Juan Islands. We lived on board our friends' Caliber 47 sailboat for two weeks and had an amazing time, even though the monohull did that whole tilting thing. We had no idea what to expect when we set out on this trip. All I knew was that I needed to bring warm clothes. And I was certainly happy that I had them. I loved all of the beautiful flowers, types that I don't ever see in Florida or the Caribbean. And those crabs! So delicious. We are now experts at eating Dungeness crabs. Well it was a long day of almost nothing for the Prada Christmas Cup... Race 1 got away on time, and Emirates Team New Zealand managed to lap INEOS Team UK before the breeze completely died out and the AC75s became displacement yachts, drifting to an unfortunate abandonment of the race. The Waitemata Harbour completely glassed out, and Race Director Iain Murray (AUS) called it a day, sending the teams and spectator flotilla home without a single race finishing. But that's boat racing! Chris Steele and Cameron Dunn had a quick chat about that race, and then provided their thoughts on all four teams ahead of the Prada Challenger Series. Unser erstes Ziel ist Wangerooge wo wir uns trockenfallen lassen werden. Über Spiekeroog, Norderney und Juist geht es in diesem Teil weiter durch ein ganz besonderes Segelrevier.
