After one month in Miami, we finally escape covid and sail our off grid catamaran to the Bahamas. Upon sailing to Bimini, we raise our quarantine flag on our sailboat until our captain clears customs and immigration. We're then welcomed by two hammerhead sharks and take on the opportunity to go snorkeling with them. The new 51 of another Dutch couple, Marc and Mirella, is launched during our stay in La Grande Motte and of course we're there to watch. I'll leave it to them to explain why they call their boat the FAT DUCK, as it looks pretty lean and mean to me ..... In the meantime our furniture has arrived and is being installed in our #4 and we try to get a glimpse of number one during her test sails with Incidence and VPLP. As I released our own test sail first you might already have seen her sailing in nice weather though.

What a crazy year 2020 has been. We missed most of the year sailing because of lockdowns and restrictions but we raced down to the Med with a month of pretty non stop sailing to enjoy the last bit of 2020 summer while we could! We originally planned on sailing throughout winter to Cyprus to spend time with family but because of restrictions along the way we decided to stop once we reached Ibiza and go slow for once! We get used to leaving our new boat at anchor and do a little exploring in the beautiful Calas of Ibiza. We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and have a fantastic new year. The Double Over Hand Loop Knot is an upgraded version of the overhand loop knot. By doubling up the turns it gives the knot a bigger knot area which has the added advantage of being slightly easier to untie after load has been applied. It can be tied in seconds and will tighten into a secure knot as soon as any load is applied. Expand you Knot Tying skills by watching this video so you can master the double over hand loop knot. Sie liegt ja nun seit über einem Jahr im Wasser, nachdem wir CopperCoat auf's Unterwasserschiff aufgetragen haben. Wir wollen die Möglichkeit haben, auch im Winter einfach spontan auf unserem Segelboot zu sein, wenn das Wetter es zulässt auch mal zu segeln und ansonsten die Ruhe in unserem wunderschönen Hafen in Peenemünde zu genießen. Deshalb liegt die 7seas auch über Winter im Wasser und nicht aufgebockt an Land. Nur müssen wir natürlich ein paar Vorkehrungen treffen, damit sie die kalte Jahreszeit auch gut übersteht. Mai 2018: Mit einem Nicht-Segler & meinen Jungs starte ich für 2 Wochen auf einer Bavaria 36 von Pirovac nach Dubrovnik. Das 1. Mal verbringen meine Kinder und ich mit meinem neuen Freund den Urlaub miteinander. Er ist das 1. Mal auf einem Segelschiff. Die Bavaria 36 buchte ich bereits, als wir noch kein Paar waren ;) Stadtbesichtigung Korcula ab Minute 9:08 19.05.2018 bis 01.06.2018: Marina Pirovac, Zmajan, Primosten, Solta, Marina Maslinica, Hvar, Korcula Stadthafen, Mljet, Bucht Prozura, Dubrovnik, ACI Marina Dubrovnik, Außenmauer Dubrovnik, Lopud, Bucht Sunj, Peljesac, Ston, Bucht Prapratno, Bucht Pupnatska, Vela Luka Korcula, Budikovac, Bucht Stiniva, Vis, Komiza, Bisevo, Bol Stadthafen, Slatni Rat, Veli Drevenik, Bucht Solinska, Mali Drevenik, Prvic, Murter, Bucht Jazine) Teil 1: Wir starten in der Marina Pirovac, segeln und ankern bei der Insel Zmajan, besuchen Primosten, legen in der Marina Maslinica auf Solta an. Ein toller Segeltag endet in Korcula am alten Stadthafen, wo wir das 1. Mal mit Buganker römisch-katholisch anlegen. Wir besichtigen die wunderschöne Altstadt von Korcula. Es gab wieder viele "1. Male" ;) Teil 2: Wir starten Mittwoch vom Stadthafen in Korcula und segelten wieder mit viel Wind Richtung Dubrovnik. Wir entschieden uns sehr spontan erst Richtung Miljet zu segeln, verbrachten dort die Nacht an einer Boje auf Miljet in der Bucht Prozura. Die Bucht hatte mit ihrem Grün etwas mystisches, mit riesen "Sildkröten-Inseln" vorgelagert. Weiter geht´s noch an eine Traumbucht, kurz vor Dubrovnik auf der Insel Lopud. Leider ist er wirklich sehr, sehr voll, da viele Ausflugsboote aus Dubrovnik rüber fuhren. Nachmittag kamen wir in der ACI Marina Dubrovnik an. Am 24. Mai, war der Pool noch nicht eingelassen, wegen dem wir eigentlich anlässlich Elias 12. Geburtstag kamen :( Wir umrundeten die Stadtmauer und aßen gemütlich in Dubrovnik. Freitag entdeckten wir dann einen wirklichen Traumstand mit Sand! Selten in Kroatien. In Ston die bucht Prapratno. Dort ankerten wir und verbrachten den nächsten Vormittag dort am Strand. Weiter ging es unten um Korcula rum nach Vela Luka. Dort hängten wir uns an die Boje und waren nicht soooo begeistert. Hier geht´s zum Teil 2: https://youtu.be/S_kBHZVRJVk Teil 3: Am Tag 10 unseres 14-tägigen Törns starten wir von der Insel Korcula aus dem dem Hafen Vela Luka Richtung Vis. In der "blauen Lagune" von Budikovac baden wir. Weiter gehts nach Vis in die wundervolle Bucht Stiniva. Es seiht aus wie ein Tor. Hinter hohen Felsen durch einen schmalen Mauerdurchbruch befindet sich ein kleiner Strand. Auch da baden wir und die Jungs springen von den Klippen. Abends hängen wir uns an eine Boje in Komiza. Am nächsten morgen wollen wir die die blaue Grotte von Bisevo besuchen. Leider "übersehen" uns die Ranger und holen uns nicht von unserem Schiff ab. Leider darf man nicht selber zum Pier fahren, um sich dort in die lange Schlange fürs Ticket und die kleineren Boote an zu stellen. Es war dann schon so spät, die Warte-Schlange so lange, dass wir die blaue Grotte an diesem Tag nicht sahen. Jedoch besuchen wir direkt nach dem Corona-Lockdown im MAi 2020 als einzige die Grotte ;) Sie ist definitiv sehenswert. Wir segelten weiter an den berühmtesten Strand von Kroatien. Das "Horn" /Slatni Rat. Verbrachten die nach in dem NAchbarhafen Bol, wo sich eine wunderschöne Cocktail-Bar befindet. Am nächsten morgen fahren wir noch mal am Bol vorbei. Machten Familienfotos ;) Weiter gehts in eine schöne kleine Ankerbucht nach Veli Drevenik. Dort gibt es einen sehr schönen Sonnuntergang. In der türkiesenen Bucht Mali Drevenik baden wir auf dem Weg zurück. Dort ziehen wir uns eine Angelschnur in die Schiffsschraube. Aber das erfahren wir erst nach der Übergabe vom Taucher. Ein Glück, dass wir trotzdem noch gut in den Heimathafen zurück kamen. Und ein Glück, dass ich eine Kautionsversicherung hatte. Die kleine Stadt Privic, in der wir uns in der letzten Nacht an die Boje legten war süß. Mit 2 weiteren Badestops gaben wir Freitag pünktlich um 17 Uhr unser Schiff ab. The Great American Canal is really called the Intracoastal Waterway and runs from Key West - Florida to New York. It is around 1200 miles long and maybe transited in a sailing boat with it's mast up. A full month aboard the Seven Seas, how lucky we felt. The crew and all travellers were double checked and found healthy, the Seven Seas has survived the few months of laying at anchor remarkably well, the seas promised to be calm and the weather would be sunny so we were ready to go. More importantly, perhaps, Mark had put a small team of seasoned travellers and photographers / cinematographers together to capture the beauty of the Forgotten Islands and its people.
