Welcome to episode eight of Season 2 Andy is working as a Paramedic for the Ambulance Service so Melissa and Jack start treating the metal on our abandoned boat. We aren't allowed to use a sand blaster ourselves in this yard, and whilst the boatyard has one they can use for us we can't afford it at the moment. Also, if we're paying the yard to do the sand blasting we really need two solid days of good weather to do the blasting and get the paint on immediately. So for now were treating each area by hand in order to slow down the deterioration over winter. In the Spring, when the weather has improved, we might then go for sandblasting. We have also bought a huge tarpaulin to cover the boat but the problem is the wind is so strong it's just too difficult and dangerous to build a framework and cover it in tarpaulin so again we are being hampered by the weather and have to wait for an improvement before we can tackle that job, all in good time. But in the meantime there's plenty to do. This is a short teaser for the whole autumn 2020 season in the playlist where we sail from Gotland to Normandie. We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our boat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. The sailing in our home water the Baltic Sea is part of our preparation to sail to the Mediterranean Sea. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boat and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders a 4 years ago. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 3 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Litza is a Devon Rex cat and she is the real cattain aboard. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea.

Get your minds out of the gutter! It's time for us to get to work on this build site and begin patching all the holes in our tent! Now that the other fishing boat is out of the tent at Kentmorr Marina, we now have the open space to get to work on patching all the holes which have formed in it over the past 15 years. Matt gives a little rundown of the process, and we tackle some of the smaller holes as we put our newbie knowledge into action. And, while the sun is still shining and there's good light outside, we take another thorough look at the Viking sport fisher which will be our home in the marina for the duration of the build. While she has good bones, there's still a number of things we need to tackle to eventually make her sale ready. Including a patch of delamination Matt found on the foredeck. The boat projects on the dock are finished and now it's time for us to hoist the sails and adventure again! It was time for us to stretch our sea legs once again. We had invited a few friends from the area to come along and join us as we untied our dock lines from the marina and went our for a small shakedown sail with the littlest amount of winds. Regardless we were off and on the water again. Sharing the feeling of being free again, feeling the rock and sway of the boat and back into the groove of things we have grown to love so much. The Club successfully hosted the annual Boxing Day Race in aid of the Malta Community Chest Funds' L-Istrina Fundraising Campaign.   A short race from Marsamxett to Fairway Buoy towards St. Julian's and back took place under gloomy skies. Yet the vibe and cheer that could be found on the boats lightened up the mood.   Winner of the Best Dressed Boat/ Christmas Cheer went to Comanche Raider III who could be heard from miles away as loud Christmas music cheered the fleet.....and possibly pedestrians in Sliema out for a walk along the sea front.   Not to be outdone were the kiddies at the Sailing School, who turned up with tinsel, baubles, Christmas hats and even a T-Rex costume - though fortunately this was ditched once the racing began!
