During his time away from work, Jamie lived on board and cruised South East Asia. One of his life dreams is to sail around the world. His plans came together at the end of 2018 when he met a Filipina lounge singer in China. Princess was yearning for a vacation since she had been working many years to support her family. Finally, her siblings got their own jobs and she decided to join Jamie on Jupiter² and go sailing. It was a wild decision for her because she had never sailed before. For the first time, they sail for two weeks around Phuket, Thailand. She began to see what Jamie love about the sea. They both resigned from their jobs in early 2019 and began cruising full time. Hopefully some inspiration to "Quit Job and Go Sailing".
Sebastien Saulnier and Christophe Affolter will be racing Sun Fast 3300 MoshiMoshi in IRC Two-Handed. The Corinthian team from St Malo, Brittany, sailed the boat from France to Lanzarote to take part in the RORC Transatlantic Race. “The dream started about three years ago,” commented explained Sebastien Saulnier. “It was wonderful to sail across the Atlantic with friends and family, but I wanted to do it in a race. Two years ago, I met Christophe who has done a lot of RORC racing. We felt good together from the first moment and this is the first race that we can do and it was not easy to get to Lanzarote. Due to government restrictions, we could only sail from L’Orient on the 12th December and we saw 48 knots of wind in the Golfe de Gascogne. We did make it past La Coruna, but the weather was so bad we had to turn back. We waited six days for the storm to pass and then it was a better sail to Lanzarote.” #RORCTransatlanticRace How to follow the 2021 RORC Transatlantic Race: Website: http://rorctransatlantic.rorc.org/ Race Tracker: http://rorctransatlantic.rorc.org/tra... This time-lapse is the process needed to step the mast to head through the Erie Canal. It takes about 2 hours once you have the brackets set up. Essential to go under the bridges on the Erie Canal. We are coming back to Canada here in the spring of 2018.
The time has come to make my way to the boat and see it in the flesh for the very first time.
In this episode, we give an in-depth instructional on how to make the moulds (molds) for a traditional wooden sailboat. Starting with the station lines lofted in Ep 5, we use a direct transfer technique to pick up the shapes of the curves onto wood that we then we use to make the moulds. We discuss: The theory of the moulds; how to make identical mirror copies of half of the moulds using a flush trim bit on a router table; the proper alignment of the two halves of the moulds; and bracing the moulds. Special thanks to the following artists for very graciously letting us use their music in this episode: Tuba Skinny - Jazz Battle The Bailsmen - Farewell Blues, Brise Napolitaine, Tiger Rag Jon Madof - Waiting Room
After sailing their Jeanneau Sun Kiss 47 for the past ten years, exploring the Great Lakes and Nova Scotia down to the Caribbean, Tom and Karen Grimmett knew a new boat and change of sailing venue was in their future. So, when they were introduced to the Sun Odyssey 440 in the Fall of 2017, they knew she would be the boat to take them into their next phase of cruising life, Life Four Point Zero. S1 E2: El Don resort in Governor Generoso Mindinao Philippines is truly a hidden gem. Un plug and enjoy the seclusion. We spend two magical days at El Don resort. While we still cannot get to our boat, there were many times I was thinking about where we could anchor around there. At the very tip of Governor Generoso there is a decent sized reef that sits between 2 meters and 25 meters. I already checked with our local dive master in Davao City and he said he has dove there before and its beautiful. I think we went from super amateur to way too formal and professional for our 2nd video. Video goals, find a good middle ground. What do you guys think? https://www.carrentaldavao.com

The race is far from over yet. After a low pressure system moves over the fleet, the leaders are left with a tricky light wind patch to get through. This may be a chance for Boris and those around him to take back some miles. It could get very close as they approach the south Atlantic trade winds.
Feast your eyes on this!! We interrupt the sailing and overland adventures for another special episode of Barrett’s ‘West Meets South.’ Thanks for coming over today and seeing Barrett in action. He’s quite the chef and has a keen sense for delicious food, tasty ingredients and creative combos. Whether he’s cooking in cast iron or on the pit of the offset smoker, his food has a West meets South flare. Today, he gets the smoker goin’ to smoke up some surf & turf…a tri tip alongside salmon filets. It’s about a 14-15 hour process, overnight, to dry brine the salmon. Then we season the tri tip and smoke them together. What a delicious treat. Please join us and let us know how you do your surf & turf!!?? Thanks for watching. Such great weather here in Charleston in January! We got out on the water and enjoyed a sunny day in the upper 60's! Happy New Year and we hope to be sailing through 2021 with new and exciting opportunities for our crew. This afternoon sail in the Harbor along the Charleston Battery, Waterfront Park, and the South Carolina Aquarium was exhilarating as the winds carried us under the bridge and alongside the huge aircraft carrier, the Yorktown. High pressure and smooth sailing as SV Shenanigan kicked it into "giddyup" mode heeled over and feeling like we were flying as her sails were trimmed just so....Just like flying! Time to put your hands up and Enjoy the ride!
