[Day 64 VG2020] A few cape-horners today and a lot of relief, to break free from the Pacific and attack the Atlantic. This mythical cape brings its share of happiness on some IMOCA boats.

After a relaxing time on Rangiroa it is time to sail on. We make our way to Fakarava to meet up with our friends from SY Yumyum again in a few days. On the crossing we are accompanied by two German backpackers who have been traveling in Polynesia for quite some time. Mario spends a morning with Wolfi from SY Nomads and they become creative hairdressers.... If you like this video, please give us a thumb up and leave a comment. Pius de sa Font: a lovely round-course with great views of the reservoirs Cuber and Gorg Blau. Join in when I hike this trail of about 8km in distance and almost 400 meters in height. Smell the fresh rosmary along this track and enjoy the sunny day. Music: Bensounds

In this first video I depart Mindelo Bay. Video shot from an improvised position under the dodger, so excuse the distortions from the image stabilization software - the result was better than not using it. Future videos are higher quality. A lot of subtitles, I know, but I had no time to talk to the camera. Sometimes the subtitles are too fast, so you're just going to have to pause, sorry :P Anyway, this was well over 10 hours editing at this point, so I hope it turned out ok.
Checking into Curacao in Ep 55 we saw some of the city but felt we hadn't had the full experience. This week we return and spend some more time in the colourful part of Willemstad, called Punda. Kieran discovers a unique bridge that he hasn't seen before and gives you all the details of his weird interest. We stop at a popular restaurant and get the info of the background of where the name comes from and the aim of the restaurant. We go snorkeling at a known coral restoration spot, also discovering the sunken reason behind the name of the beach "Tug Boat Beach". We want to thank everyone watching, recently our channel keeps growing and growing. We are looking to sail the Pacific ocean in the near future and so please stay with us as we take on the biggest sails of our life. Join our crew! This week we finished up what was meant to be a small boat job - a spring clean of the aft cabin bed and the v-berth. We ripped out all of our cabin sole, water heater, batteries, rotten wood and more and started from scratch. Painting a clean, white space under the bed and installing new floors and cabin sole. As we put the hatches back on, we realized that most of our hard work wouldn’t be seen with the mattress back on… so we revarnished the wood and the master cabin is now fully refitted and sparkling! Season 7 : Episode #171 : Recovering on Santa Cruz Island Hello Friends, On this weeks episode we take a "Day off" from the hard pace we had had the entire trip and just relaxed and recuperated after our misadventures on San Miguel Island. Prisoners Harbor was just what the doctor ordered. It was like being anchored on a lake most of the time and even when the southerlies arrived they never blew more than 10 knots. We enjoyed the seals and birds in the anchorage and Camille when for a snorkel along the rocky shoreline. Thank you very much, you guys are amazing supporting us with your likes and comments, we really feel that we have a new family out there. Much love Carla & Simon A little bit about us... We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love Carla and Simon
Over our first two weeks sailing our catamaran in the Bahamas we drowned a computer, ran out of cash, and met some WILD winds, and survived to tell the tale. But we didn’t get any of that on camera. If you have been curious about sailing in the Abacos and how they are recovering from Hurricane Dorian, tune in this week. First things first though - it's time to learn how to sail our Leopard 40 properly. The dual sheet main has always given us fits, but we're getting better at it! We explore one of the Abacos most famous islands, Green Turtle Cay, and show you what the landscape looks like after 16 months of restoration efforts. We want to help make the Bahamas get back on their feet, if you are a part of an organization that needs help (physical or clerical) please message us in the comments below. We finally have all our chance to make a 6 day passage from Annapolis to Carolina Beach NC. This will be a shake out cruise as well as an extensive instructional time for us. We have hired a delivery captain to come with us as well as teach us everything we can work in, in this short time. The only problem is a gale wind warning settled in and blew all the water out of the bay. The gale delayed us several days but we had fun anyway. We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. We started out with Somnium, an O'day 272, moved onto Freebie, an Endeavour 32, and now are focusing on sailboat tours and working full time as teachers while we save up for our next boat. Well, we successfully escaped being locked in Northern waters... Now it was time to get back to work. Bagheera gets transformed into a sailboat and there were a few key repairs we needed to do before she could be sailed. But on top of that, there was still a long list of projects that would make our life onboard a lot more comfortable, or make Bagheera look a little bit less like a construction site, so we decided to tackle a bunch of them. We hadn't planned to stay this long in Catskill but the welcome from Riverview Marine Services was second to none. The owner, Mike, was extremely helpful and resourceful for the boat projects we had going, and kept finding ways to make our stay more affordable. We ended up making them a little edit, check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iR8J-ouPWis Thanks for watching and following! ~Oct 15th - Oct 28th 2020 ~

With its ultra light weight, the Airscape is all about free expression. It is stable in hands, easy to duck, and explosive to pop. The Airscape was substantially reworked and benefits from new leech outlines and an increased aspect ratio. The head battens are also more angled to project the upper area higher, leading to narrower head widths. The outcome is super reactive sails offering greater control through the moves. For season 2022, Airscape has been adapted to the high-wing foiling range. Learn more: https://www.loftsails.com/windsurf-gear/sails/airscape

After almost a month of boat work, the mast has been re-stepped and we’re finally headed back to cruising life. We head out with the wind, as we make our way towards Maine, our ultimate destination. In total about 500 nautical miles away, we tackle the passage in pieces stopping first in Cape May NJ, and then in Block Island. After Block Island our next jump is to Hadley Harbor Massachusetts, which is followed by our trip through the Cape Cod Canal headed for Province Town Massachusetts. It's New England in late July and we're finally seeing more comfortable temperatures - And, a bunch of harbor seals! We certainly aren't in the Bahamas anymore 🙃 We leave Province Town on a light air forecast aiming for Maine. Early on we encounter foggy conditions but later the sun comes out and it turns out to be a beautiful passage. We dodge fish pots all the way to our destination spot- The Isle of Shoals. Right on the border of Maine and New Hampshire, this pretty island is about six miles off the coast of Portsmouth, NH. Once anchored, we enjoy a nice dinner on Delos with a small contingent of the Ragged Island Covid crew, our friends on sailing vessel Keelin-it, Linda & Will. 0:00 Intro 0:40 Leaving Annapolis 2:19 Buzzards Bay though the C&D Canal 5:00 Exploring Providence Town 5:28 After all this time....we are finally bound for Maine! 14:03 Arrival to Isle of Shoals 16:01 Dinner on Delos with our C-Crew ~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Thanks to our Patrons!
