In 1997, after a disastrous Olympic rowing campaign, Rob decided to row a seven-metre plywood boat, 2500 miles from Tenerife in the Canary Islands to Barbados in the Caribbean. It took 6 weeks and he and his rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, won the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race. Skip forward to 2014, we invested in Javelot a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Robert's 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel's non existent sailing knowledge, we set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know our boat before heading offshore with our three children, Finn 17, Declan 15 and Ivan 12, in tow. Through trial and error, we have become confident wayfarers, kind of. Our plan? To sail around the world, meet the locals and record our adventures. Part of the journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we will re trace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. #watermakeronboard #buildingwatermaker We installed the basic Seawater Pro water maker and nine months later we upgraded it with a new stainless steel pump. Over the two years that we lived off the watermaker it has been very reliable. With the basic kit some of the parts are plastic, but they have never broken. The main issues we have had with the water maker was with the Karcher, it would overheat. With the pump supplied by Seawater Pro it has been very reliable. Great Product. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Encore et toujours en direction du Sud, nous partons fin juillet de Roccapina en direction de Bonifacio, avec une halte prévue un peu avant, mais sans but précis lors du départ. Ce sera finalement l'anse de Porticciu près de Figari, puis la magnifique Cala FAZZIOLU juste avant Bonifacio, Cala dont je ne saurais finalement pas prononcer le nom correctement. Décidément le neurone est aussi en vacances... COVID oblige l'affluence est toujours minimale, une fois de plus nous somme chanceux de nous retrouver avec si peu de monde dans ces coins paradisiaques. Cette vidéo est aussi la première réalisée avec une nouvelle version de logiciel de montage, ce qui va me permettre d’augmenter progressivement la qualité vidéo et la résolution d’images.

Seems like we went from forest, to badlands, to plains, to mountains all in less than an hour. We hike up Boo Boo Hill. There are Legends of spirits of lost sailors and their boats haunting the island. We talk a little about conserving our oceans and what it means for wildlife as well as you and me. Also we try to see a blow hole, but it doesn't quite work out. I guess we need to research that a little more. I'm sure it has something to do with tides. We hope you enjoy! We hebben op sommige koersen problemen met de stuurautomaat. In Tallinn komt Ivar van Raymarine aan boord en samen testen we een nieuw kompas en bespreken we alle mogelijke opties. Hoe iedereen zich ook inzet, we komen niet tot een goede oplossing en moeten de automaat maar gebruiken zoals het kan. We bezoeken de Noblessner haven en het scheepvaartmuseum en brengen een bezoek aan de wijk Kalamaja. Dan wordt het toch echt weer tijd om door te zeilen en vertrekken we richting Finland. De wind is niet gunstig voor Helsinki, dus zeilen we naar het eilandje Prangli voor Tallinn. Wij zijn Ben en Felia. Jaren hebben wij de droom gehad om samen over de wereld te zeilen. In mei 2020 zijn we aan dit grote avontuur begonnen. In onze Atlantic43, Eva genaamd, gaan wij waar de wind ons brengt. Eva is een aluminium zeiljacht met ophaalbare kiel. Pacific PARADISE and a PLASTIC problem. This week we explore the underwater world of Ailuk lagoon and have a beach walk around one of the small islets in the lagoon. We are horrified by how much fishing gear, plastic and rubbish washes up on the windward side of the atoll. A sad reminder of the ever increasing global plastic problem. Mark's Birthday is a great excuse for another beach picnic and sundowners. We are Jo and Rob and we are here to share our sailing adventures with you. In 2016, inspired by the likes of ‘Delos’, ‘Sailing La Vagabonde’ and ‘Gone with The Wynns’, we sold up everything we owned and bought our 40ft, Fountaine Pajot ‘Lipari 41 Evo’ sailing catamaran ‘Double Trouble’. We had no sailing experience whatsoever, so the past few years have been a huge learning curve. We thought it might be fun to document our travels for anyone thinking of following a similar lifestyle. So far we have visited 7 different countries and sailed over 13,000 nautical miles. We have had many unique experiences that would not have been possible in our prior life and we don’t regret a second. We're both super keen on protecting our precious environment, so amongst other things, we both follow a plant based diet. You wont find any fishing footage on this channel!
