After a great week in the Holandes Cays we decide to lift the anchor and sail to the next island group called the Coco Banderos Cays. We had heard and read so much about how beautiful Coco Banderos is that we couldn’t wait to see it. The sail there was around 8 nautical miles from the Holandes Cays. We had wind at last so were able to hoist the sails, something we had not done in a while! It felt really great to be under sail again, even though it was only for a short time. We arrived in Coco Banderos and dropped anchor near our friends on Rafiki, shortly afterwards our friends on Domum arrived too. Shawn couldn’t wait to get the drone up and take a look around. We like to use the drone to see where all the reefs are and where about we are sitting in the anchorage. Its also great to see where we want to explore on the dinghy. Each day consisted of school in the mornings and fun in the afternoon. We did a couple art and splicing lessons on board Mokara with the kids from Domum, which were good fun. The underwater life is the San Blas is the best we have seen. The boys were pulling crayfish and crabs out of the water on a daily basis. We were definitely not going to starve! It was in Coco Banderos that Dylan managed to catch our biggest crayfish ever. As we’ve mentioned before we are always surprised at the amount of plastic we see on these deserted beaches. It really shows the impact the human race is making to our planet, and how even in these remote islands you can still feel our impact. We made it our goal to clean as many islands as we possibly could! So everyday along with lots of fun, we systematically worked our way around most of the Coco Banderos islands. Collecting all the trash and burning it. It was backbreaking work but we had loads of help from Lute and Marlene on Rafiki and Rute, Joao, Marta, Afonso and Carmen on Domum. We managed to collect over 100kgs. Sadly we know that if we went back there now the beaches would be filled with plastic again, but at least all the plastic we removed is out of the oceans forever! Hopefully if we all pick up trash when we go to beaches we can make a big difference together.

After the best night sleep, we look back on our Channel crossing and analyse the trip. We are rafted up to a motor boat, comfortable and in a beautiful place. Whilst exploring Honfleur we saw a familiar boat... We had met a lovely couple last summer in Plymouth and we were 100% sure that it was their boat. Before I even realised Stuart was already knocking on their door to say hello. It was lovely seeing some familiar faces after having just arrived to a new country and that was the perfect excuse to stay in Honfleur for a bit longer and enjoy Christmas and New Year's. We thought that as we were going to stay here for a few weeks before going into the canals we could start getting the boat ready and took the genoa down on preparation for the trip. Wayzgoose enjoyed a well deserved wash as she was all scruffy and salty from the passage. As every Christmas we put all the decorations up and enjoy the festive atmosphere around our little home. For a long time, I have been searching for an easy to convert my Spotify favorite music into MP3 so I can play it from my desktop on board while on passages or when cruising remote areas. I subscribe to Spotify Premium for a long time but they only let you play your music from your phone when offline! This very easy and inexpensive software works much better than other ones I tried before. Hello Everyone! Hope you guys enjoy a video full of our projects! We have to get through all the nitty gritty and important things before we can get to sailing! The few months we took to get the boat ready were the most important months! In this video we show you how we completed our biggest projects that we had to get done before heading down to the keys to haul out. We installed an AIS system, new VHF antenna, Nathalie patched the dingy's, we finished re-calking some areas of the deck and sealing it so we wouldn't have any more leaks, among a couple other projects. Below we listed the times on the video that we start each project if anyone wants to skip around a bit. This is not a tutorial video, but maybe you can get some ideas if your in a similar boat (lol) and can get an idea from how we did things. 2:14 - Go over how we fix the stanchions from leaking through the deck 5:09 - Putting patches on the dingy 7:52 - Installing our AIS system 11:15 - Calking the teak top deck 14:00 - Starting our Diesel engine, alternator issue, but otherwise ok! 16:01 - Adding extra battery connected directly to windlass 19:20 - Starting outboard engines before placing them on the boat 21:17 - Re-attaching VHF antenna 23:13 - Bloopers :) Continue to follow along by subscribing to our channel or giving us a like or comment!
