Living aboard a boat is completely legal provided. You follow the rules. Some marinas make you leave. Your boat for 2 weeks every year, Like this Marina in Tennessee. Some marinas are more strict and make. You leave your boat two weeks out of every month. That does not mean you can't live aboard your boat.
