Em 1.ยบ de julho, Beryl chegou ร ilha de Carriacou, em Granada, como um furacรฃo de categoria 4, causando grandes danos. O furacรฃo se intensificou ainda mais ao entrar no Mar do Caribe, atingindo o mรกximo de categoria 5 na manhรฃ seguinte, com ventos sustentados de 130 quilรดmetros por hora. Beryl causou danos catastrรณficos nas ilhas de Carriacou e Petite Martinique, no norte de Granada, e em vรกrias ilhas do sul de Sรฃo Vicente e Granadinas, como Union Island e Canouan, onde muitas estruturas foram danificadas ou destruรญdas. Na Venezuela, trรชs pessoas foram mortas e vรกrias estรฃo desaparecidas.
