Electric clam are always a favorite with divers. The flashes are actually not electric. The clams have a highly reflective tissue on the very outer edge of their mantle that is exposed and then hidden very quickly. The change back and forth from the white reflective tissue to the red tissue is what creates the flashing. Footage by Dustin Adamson @Oceanshutter Music: Giulio Cercato-Energy
Verde island is always a favorite amongst our guests. You will understand why as soon as you get in. Located about 1h away from our Puerto Galera resort, Verde Island has been described as "the centre of the centre of marine biodiversity". Our day trip there includes 3 dives and a delicious lunch. And you will be back to the resort in time for the night dive :-). Video by @whereismaira Music: Lyle Workman-Ocean Tide
Videographer Dustin Adamson @OceanShutter captured this lovely close-up portrait of a wunderpus, one of the many fascinating critters that can be observed on our dive sites. Music: Mika Lett - Like That (Instrumental)
During your stay with Atlantis Dumaguete, be sure to enquire about our day trip to Oslob. This is your chance to encounter the biggest fish in the ocean, the beautiful whale shark. Atlantis Puerto Galera is a short boat ride from many incredible dive spots and offers divers a great opportunity to see diverse marine life and habitats, with vibrant walls, vivid reefs and sandy areas. From wide angle to macro, Puerto Galera is considered to be one of the most biodiverse locations in the Coral Triangle (and hence the world), with schools of colorful reef fish (antheas, butterfly fish, batfish, and more!), hundreds of species of nudibranchs, eels and rays, mandarinfish and more! Formations include swim throughs, canyons, walls and pinnacles. Visibility ranges from 15-50 meters (50-160feet). Puerto Galera is situated on Mindoro Island, and is accessible via land transfer from Manila airport. Have a look here and see the magic of Puerto Galera! Video Credit: Matthias Lebo
